Aspalathus rostrata is a rare, range-restricted species, but it is not threatened.

Range
This species is endemic to the Western Cape, where it occurs from the Hex River Pass to the northern slopes of the Langeberg in the Koo Valley west of Montagu.

Description
It is localized to ecotones between dry mountain fynbos and renosterveld on lower slopes.
Threats
Recent field observations indicate no severe threats to this species.
Population

This species is a rare and localized habitat specialist, and is known from only five subpopulations. The population is not suspected to be declining.
