Agriculture is a threat, especially up on the West Coast. However, there are still at least 10 safe localities occurring on top of mountains or within nature reserves, e.g. Fernkloof, Table Mountain National Park (Cape Point, Silvermine, lower slopes of Devil's Peak), Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve- Hangklip.
