Justification
Aspalathus ulicina subs. kardouwensis is a very rare, range-restricted taxon known from only five collections from montane areas where it is not suspected to be threatened. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) is less than 189 km². It is therefore listed under the IUCN 3.1. criteria as Least Concern but is nationally recognised as Rare.
