In some areas, e.g. between Dullstroom and Lydenburg, wetland habitats are disappearing due to development and agriculture (degradation by grazing cattle and drainage for conversion to crop fields), many wetland species from this area e.g. Kniphofia typhoides are in serious decline (J. Burrows pers. comm.). |
