Justification | A very widespread (EOO 36 232 km²) species. Although threatened in some areas by habitat loss, it is unlikely to decline to extinction. |
Distribution |
Endemism | South African endemic |
Provincial distribution | Eastern Cape, Northern Cape, Western Cape |
Range | Sutherland to Worcester and Ladismith, with one record from the Baviaanskloof near Steytlerville. |

Major habitats | Fynbos, Succulent Karoo |
Description | Gravelly karroid hills, steep, rocky south-facing slopes and alluvial deep sand. |
Threats |
Most collections are from Worcester and the Little Karoo, where some subpopulations on lower slopes and flats are threatened by habitat loss to urban expansion and crop cultivation. Subpopulations in rocky crevices on steep slopes are however unlikely to be threatened. This species is likely to be overlooked elsewhere within its range, rather than rare, and unlikely to be declining to extinction. |
