Justification
Drimia montana is a rare, range-restricted species with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 2335 km². It is known from three subpopulations, but is not threatened.

This species is endemic to the mountains of the Eastern Cape interior, where it has been recorded from widely scattered localities in the Groot Winterberg, Bosberg and Stormberg Mountains.

Description
It occurs on flat, exposed sandstone rock slaps in arid montane grassland.
Threats
This species' habitat is well-protected and it is not threatened.
Population

This species is known from three widely scattered localities. Intensive surveys of the vegetation of the Great Winterberg did not locate any additional subpopulations, and it is therefore assumed to be rare. The population is not suspected to be declining.
