Lachenalia algoensis is a widespread species that is declining in parts of its range, but is not yet in danger of extinction.

This is a coastal species, occurring from Cape Agulhas in the Western Cape eastwards to Bathurst in the Eastern Cape.

Description
This species occurs in on sandy flats and dry hill slopes in fynbos and coastal grassland.
Threats
Some of this species' habitat has been irreversibly modified due to urban expansion and coastal development, and loss continues, particularly in the Garden Route area of the southern Cape coast. Subpopulations in the western part of the range are threatened by competition from dense infestations of alien invasive plants.
Population

Lachenalia algoensis is a widespread and common species. The population is suspected to be declining due to ongoing habitat loss and degradation.
