Justification
A range-restricted species (EOO 5634 km²), occurring at between 11 and 15 locations and declining due to habitat loss to mining.

Description
Deep, red sandy soils on flats, granitic sand at the base of granite outcrops, and clay soils on alluvial plains.
Threats
Subpopulations near the coast are threatened by expanding open cast sand mining. At a few known locations, plants are subjected to heavy grazing, but does not appear to be negatively impacted by grazing.
Population

At some locations further inland, very few plants were recorded (G. Duncan, pers. obs.), however in deep sands near the coast, subpopulations number many thousands of plants (N.A. Helme, pers. obs.).
