Range
This species is widespread across the high mountains of the Eastern Cape interior. It also occurs in the Nuweveld Mountains north of Beaufort West in the Western Cape.

Description
It occurs in rocky places on summit plateaus and at the base of cliffs on steep slopes in montane grassland.
Threats
The majority of this species' habitat is not threatened, but in some parts of range field observations noted habitat degradation due to alien invasive plants and too frequent fires.

This species is abundant and not under threat (Duncan 2012).
