Cracks and crevices in sandstone rocks.
Threats
One known subpopulation is potentially threatened by competition from alien invasive plants. Elsewhere on the Piketberg it is however unlikely to be threatened - unmanaged alien invasive plants currently affect areas of the central and western Piketberg, outside of this species' known range.
Population

Plants occur in scattered, small clumps in suitable habitat (Duncan 2012). It is seldom collected, and is currently known from only two subpopulations from the opposite sides of the Piketberg Mountain. It is likely to also occur in the intervening areas, but more surveys are needed to determine the size and extent of the population.
