Justification
Lachenalia orchioides subsp. orchioides is widely distributed in the Western and Eastern Cape provinces of South Africa, and not in danger of extinction. It is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Description
It occurs in variable habitat, including flats and rocky slopes.
Threats
Its habitat is extensively modified mostly around flats. The remaining habitat is threatened by ongoing habitat degradation to too frequent fires, competition from alien invasive species and overgrazing by livestock.
