Description | It occurs in sandy soils, primarily on flats and primary and secondary dunes, and is less often encountered on hill and mountain slopes. The scape dries and detaches from the bulb before the seeds are fully ripe, then seeds are shed directly onto the ground and probably dispersed by ants. |
Threats |
On the coastal lowlands, this species has lost habitat to urban expansion and agriculture. Subpopulations in montane areas are not threatened. |

It occurs as solitary individuals or in small groups within larger colonies.
