Distribution |
Endemism | South African endemic |

Population |
Lachenalia schlechteri has a scattered, disjunct distribution and is known from only a few records. Plants occur singly or in small groups. It is possibly overlooked, as particularly the northern part of its range remains botanically still relatively poorly explored. The population trend is not known. It is possibly declining or locally extinct around Gouda due to habitat loss to agricultural expansion - it was last recorded in this area in 1894.
