Range
This species is endemic to a small area in the mountains of the Western Cape, from Franschhoek to Hangklip and Hermanus.
Habitat and Ecology

Overberg Sandstone Fynbos, Kogelberg Sandstone Fynbos, Hawequas Sandstone Fynbos
Description
It occurs on sandy, lower south-facing mountain slopes. It flowers only in response to fires, and is therefore easily overlooked. At maturity fruits splits open and seeds are dispersed locally. Pollinators are unknown, but the flower shape and episodic flowering suggests generalist pollination.
Threats
Subpopulations in the Franschhoek Mountains and around Houw Hoek are potentially threatened by competition from alien invasive plants. Elsewhere, its habitat is well-protected and it has no severe threats.
Population

It is found in large colonies, and is not suspected to be declining.
