Justification
This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 80-290 km² and is a locally abundant habitat specialist that is not threatened. It is therefore listed under the IUCN 3.1. criteria as Least Concern but is nationally recognised as Rare.

Description
Plants grow in rock crevices on north-facing, exposed Ecca Shale cliffs, surrounding vegetation consists of a mosaic of thicket and subtropical shrub forest, below 300 m.
Threats
This species occurs on sheer cliffs where it is safe from threat (Van Jaarsveld and Van Wyk 2003).
Population

This species is locally abundant in suitable habitat (Van Jaarsveld and Van Wyk 2003).
