Justification
Crassula subacaulis subsp. subacaulis is a range-restricted subspecies, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 2191 km², occurring at five to 10 locations and declining due to ongoing habitat degradation. It is listed as Vulnerable under criterion B.
Distribution
Endemism
South African endemic
Provincial distribution
Northern Cape
Range
This species is endemic to South Africa, and is found in Richtersveld, from Helskloof to Steinkopf.

Kosiesberg Succulent Shrubland, Central Richtersveld Mountain Shrubland, Namaqualand Blomveld, Western Gariep Hills Desert
Description
It occurs on lower gravel slopes.
Threats
Severe overgrazing is causing a loss of vegetation cover and erosion across this subspecies' range. It is not grazed, but is dependent on shelter provided by larger shrubs, and plants are dying in areas where shrub cover has been reduced. A historical record indicates that this subspecies occurred near Swartwater, where it is now quite possibly locally extinct due to habitat loss to mining.
Population

There is no information available on the population of this species.
