Justification | A range-restricted Maputaland endemic (EOO 10 156 km²) that has possibly declined somewhat in the past, but most known remaining populations occur in protected areas. As an annual it is also probably somewhat resilient to disturbance, and therefore it is not suspected to be threatened or in danger of extinction. |
Distribution |
Endemism | Not endemic to South Africa |
Provincial distribution | KwaZulu-Natal |
Range | A Maputaland endemic occurring from False Bay Park in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa to Chinhanguanine in Maputo Province, southern Mozambique. |

There has been some loss of habitat in and around Maputo city in Mozambique and some loss to urban and agricultural development in northern KwaZulu-Natal. The majority of its range is however still intact, and it has been recorded from a number of protected areas including False Bay Park, Ndumo Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It is also found in the Maputo Elephant Reserve in Maputo Province, southern Mozambique. |
