Description
It occurs in shallow soils in crevices on rock faces in grassland.
Threats
There is significant, ongoing loss and degradation of grasslands in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands and areas inland of the south coast, particularly due to expanding rural settlements.
Population

This species is known through historical records from at least 25 locations, but its habitat within the Eastern Cape is poorly explored, and it is likely to be more common than records suggest. Land cover changes between 1990 and 2014 indicates rapid, ongoing habitat loss at almost all locations within KwaZulu-Natal.
