This subspecies was originally described from a single subpopulation (Van Jaarsveld and Van Wyk 2009), but field observations by volunteers of the Custodians of Rare and Endangered Wildflowers (CREW) Programme indicate that it is widespread across the Kouga and Outeniqua mountains.
