Description
Sandy plateaus.
Threats
Ongoing, sporadic agricultural expansion is causing habitat loss in the southern part of this species' range. At least one subpopulation is likely to be lost to orchard expansion in the near future (N.A. Helme, pers. obs. 2014). Further north, it occurs in Swartruggens Quartzite Fynbos, which is still 90% intact, and there is little to no ongoing threat.
Population

This species is known from only a few, scattered collections, but is highly likely to be overlooked, as the area where it occurs remains botanically still poorly explored, and it is cryptic and easily overlooked. More field surveys are needed to more accurately determine the size and extent of the population, but due to the large extent of this species' habitat still remaining intact, particularly in the northern parts of its range, it is estimated that there are more than 10 locations.
