Desert, Succulent Karoo
Description
It grows on weathered granite and quartzite-derived gravelly slopes and flats, 65-1182 m.
Threats
This species is possibly affected by habitat loss to mining along the Orange River but it seems to be a pioneer plant in disturbed areas. The effect of severe overgrazing and the continuous drought in certain parts of the Northern Cape on the population is unknown. In Namibia, its habitat is well-protected, and it is not affected by any severe threats.
Population

It is fairly common within its range, and a large number of recent records indicate that it survives in spite of heavy grazing pressure on parts of its range.
