Scientific Name | Monechma acutum C.B.Clarke |
Higher Classification | Dicotyledons |
Family | ACANTHACEAE |
National Status |
Status and Criteria | Data Deficient - Taxonomically Problematic |

Justification | Monechma acutum is a rare and poorly known species, possibly restricted to a small area between Humansdorp and Uitenhage, where it is likely to be threatened by ongoing habitat loss and degradation. Munday (1995) does not include it in her revision of the genus - it possibly belongs to another genus or may be conspecific with other taxa. |

Description | Unknown. |
Threats |
This species is possibly threatened by habitat loss to timber plantations, urban expansion, competition from alien invasive plants and overgrazing. |
