Justification
A widespread and common near-endemic to the Maputaland Centre of Endemism (National EOO 12 376 km²). In spite of widespread habitat loss and degradation, it is not suspected to be in danger of extinction as it is resilient to disturbance.

Description
Open scrub in sandy soils on dunes, often in disturbed places.
Threats
Coastal areas have been extensively transformed and disturbed as a result of coastal and infrastructure development, timber plantations (on the Maputaland coastal plain) and sugarcane cultivation. This species may have declined in some places, but it is also resilient to disturbance, and the population has increased in many areas such as along road verges.
