Justification
A widespread (EOO 25 508 km²), but localized habitat specialist (AOO estimated <1200 km²), remaining at between 10 and 16 locations and declining due to ongoing habitat loss and degradation and competition from alien invasive plants.

Description
Seasonally inundated shallow loam filled depressions on coastal limestone pavements.
Threats
This subspecies' lowland coastal habitat continues to decrease across its range. On the Vredenburg Peninsula it is threatened by habitat loss to coastal development and limestone mining. On the Cape Peninsula, many subpopulations known through historical records are now locally extinct due to habitat loss to urban expansion. Remaining coastal wetland systems are degraded, polluted and infested with alien invasive plants. Further east, on the Agulhas Plain and towards Stilbaai, coastal limestone vegetation is densely infested by unmanaged alien invasive plants. Coastal development is also causing further population decline around Arniston and Stilbaai.
