Description
Upper tidal and supratidal zones of estuarine salt marshes, edges of estuarine rivers, rarely on the margins of inland saline and brackish pans.
Threats
This species is threatened by ongoing habitat loss and degradation, mainly due to the disruption of water dynamics in coastal estuaries as a result of damming of rivers as well as coastal development.
Population

In spite of extensive habitat loss and degradation, this species is still very common, and can be found in virtually all major estuaries along the South African coast (Köcke et al. 2010).
