Justification
A very rare montane species currently known from only 30 mature individuals. A few more subpopulations are likely to occur on unexplored rocky slopes of the Matroosberg and Rooiberg peaks of the Hex River Mountains. The total population is estimated to be fewer than 250 mature individuals.

Description
Gentle mountain slopes in rocky soil on well-drained base rock, sandstone and bare rock, 1 900-2 000 m.

No threats.
Population

Currently known from one stand of 30 individuals, a few more stands may occur on Matroosberg and Rooiberg, however the species is highly habitat specific and being a resprouter it generally occurs in low numbers. The total population is suspected to be less than 250 mature individuals.
