Parasitic on species of Boscia, Euclea and possibly Acacia.
Threats
It is possibly threatened by habitat loss and degradation due to mining and overgrazing in the Richtersveld, but elsewhere it its range it is unlikely to be threatened.
Population

This species is poorly known in South Africa, where it was formerly considered synonymous with V. capense (Wiens and Tölken 1979), with which it overlaps in range.
