Description | Open gravelly flats, alluvial washes and sandy or calcareous plains. |
Threats |
Cyanella ramosissima is threatened across its range by ongoing habitat degradation due to overstocking of livestock, which causes trampling, loss of species diversity and shrub cover. In addition, large areas of bare soil on slopes as a result of overgrazing and trampling are causing more severe flash floods, which more often completely washes away plants growing in drainage lines and alluvial washes, such as this species (P.C.V. van Wyk pers. obs.). This species is also threatened by ongoing habitat loss to open-cast mining between Arrisdrift and Sendelingsdrift. |
Population |
This species is rare in the Richtersveld, subpopulations are small and localized, and the population is declining. It is also known from only a few scattered records in Namibia, but the Namibian population is not threatened.
