Justification
This taxon has a restricted range, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 573 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 64 km². It is known from seven locations. The population is not suspected to be declining at present, but it is potentially threatened by competition from alien invasive plants at least in one known location.

Description
It occurs on steep upper slopes and summit ridges in sandstone fynbos.
Threats
Scattered alien invasive plants are present in this species' habitat around the Swartberg Pass, and could potentially outcompete native species in future if left unmanaged. The area is also subjected to too frequent fires, but this is unlikely to affect this resprouter.
