Justification | Ophionella arcuata subsp. mirkinii is endemic to the eastern Karoo. It has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 6607 km², currently known from nine subpopulations but likely to be under collected and as there is still substantial unexplored suitable habitat within its range. There are no significant threats and it is listed as Least Concern. |

This species is relatively common but requires careful searching to detect plants as they are highly cryptic and occur under bushes (Bruyns 2005).
