Linum gracile is a widespread species with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 16 325 km². It is not in danger of extinction, and is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Description
It occurs on lower sandstone slopes.
Threats
Historically Linum gracile has lost habitat to timber plantations on the south slopes of the Langeberg, Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma mountains in the past. Some subpopulations are threatened by competition from alien invasive plants.
