Description
It occurs in deep sandy soils in hot dry evergreen forest, woodland and thicket, often along rivers.

This species' habitat in South Africa is well-protected and it is not threatened.

This species is common in suitable habitat, where it can form large thickets (Schmidt et al. 2002).
