Justification
Berzelia ecklonii is a rare, range-restricted species with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 272 km². It currently has no severe threats, and therefore is not suspected to be in danger of extinction.

This species is endemic to a small areas in the mountains of the Western Cape, between Grabouw and Pringle Bay.

Description
It occurs on marshy sandstone slopes in fynbos.
Threats
Alien invasive plants are present in low densities at some localities. It is important that these are cleared to prevent them from outcompeting rare and localized native species such as this one. Most of its habitat is in well-protected wilderness areas.
