This species is only known from one subpopulation with fewer than 100 mature individuals.

Population

The subpopulation consists of two stands on the eastern and western slopes of Pilaarkop Ridge. In 1999 the the eastern stand consisted of only one large adult and 3 juveniles, the western stand in 2003 had 35 plants.
