This Eastern Cape endemic tree has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 11 508 km². It is not currently experiencing any major threats. This species is therefore assessed as Least Concern.

Description
This species is a shrub or small tree that can grow up to 5 m tall. It occurs in stony or rocky areas with sandstone and quartzites.
Threats
In the past, this species lost its habitat to plantations in the Bathurst District. While there is no significant ongoing expansion of plantations, they serve as major sources of alien invasive plants that spread into adjacent native vegetation, outcompeting local species. However, it is unknown whether these aliens have any direct impact on this species.
