Distribution
Endemism
South African endemic

Range
Namaqualand coastal plain between Hondeklipbaai and Kotzesrus.

Description
Sandy flats in strandveld and coastal fynbos.
Threats
Habitat loss to mining is the most severe threat to this localized endemic. There is currently at least one mining application on part of its habitat, and more are likely to follow within the next 10 years (N.A. Helme pers. comm.). Some subpopulations are also likely to be impacted by infrastructure development associated with a planned power line between Kleinsee and Vredendal.
Population

This species occurs in scattered, small subpopulations (N.A. Helme pers. obs.). It is endemic to a localized vegetation type, and has a small area of occupancy. The population is currently stable, but is likely to decline due to habitat loss to mining in future. It is however at present not possible to estimated what proportion of the population is likely to be impacted by mining.
