Justification

Threats
A small population of Rhinephyllum pillansii was recently found during an environmental impact study for a solar and wind farm (N.A. Helme pers. comm. 2013). This species' habitat is used mainly for sheep farming, but grazing does not appear to negatively impact this species (N.A. Helme pers. obs.).
Population

A localized, but locally common habitat specialist. This species is rarely recorded, but is suspected to be overlooked, rather than rare or threatened. A recent field survey found only a single, small subpopulation of 400-600 plants within a 1 km area within 1600 hectares of vegetation surveyed.
