Justification
Zaluzianskya pilosissima is an endemic species to the western part of the Upper Karoo, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 19 730 km². While only recorded from 11 collection localities this part of South Africa is extremely poorly sampled and it is suspected to occur in many more places. This annual species, dependent on rain for growth and flowering was only recorded once during the Karoo BioGaps project which surveyed more than 60% of its range between 2016 and 2018. The extent of decline is however incredibly difficult to estimate. As an annual, this species should be able to survive long periods of drought as seeds in the seedbank. It is therefore listed as Least Concern. However should drought conditions continue for the next 10 years this species should be uplisted into a category of threat.
