Justification
This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 13 638 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 72 km². It is currently known from 14 locations, and may occur at a few more, as extensive habitat is still untransformed in the northern part of this species' range. Southern subpopulations are declining due to ongoing habitat loss to crop cultivation. It is therefore listed as Near Threatened under criterion B.
Distribution

South African endemic
Provincial distribution
Northern Cape, Western Cape
Habitat and Ecology

Fynbos, Succulent Karoo
Description
It occurs in sandy flats and mountain plateaus.
Threats
This species has lost 44% of its habitat (calculated using landcover data in GIS). Coastal flats in the southern part of this species' range are extensively cultivated for rooibos tea and potatoes, and some subpopulations are declining due to ongoing habitat loss. Subpopulations in Namaqualand appear not to be under any threat.
Population

This species was formerly known from only a few collections in the Lambert's Bay-Hopefield area until more collections extended the range northwards to the Knersvlakte and southern Namaqualand. The species is now known from 14 locations based on 23 observations (herbarium specimens and iNaturalist records). Some subpopulations have been noted to have low numbers of individuals.
