Justification | This taxon has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 12 687 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 216 km². It is known from more than 25 subpopulations. Much of its habitat is protected within mountain reserves. It is not declining and is not in danger of extinction. It is therefore listed as Least Concern. |

Description | It occurs in fynbos and renosterveld, on rocky sandstone slopes or on gravelly shale. |
Threats |
This subspecies has lost 42% of its habitat (calculated using landcover data in GIS) due to crop cultivation. There is also ongoing habitat degradation due to too frequent fires and alien invasive species. |
Population |
This subspecies remains relatively widespread and it is known from more than 25 subpopulations. Loss and degradation of habitat are causing a slow decline in the population.
