Justification
This taxon has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 28 648 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 144 km². It has 15-20 severely fragmented subpopulations that are restricted to an area undergoing extensive habitat loss to coastal development, crop cultivation and alien plant invasion. It is listed as Near Threatened.

Description
It occurs in sandy coastal flats and dunes.
Threats
This taxon has lost 26% of its habitat (calculated using landcover data in GIS) to agriculture and infrastructure development. It is severely threatened across its range. Coastal development is causing ongoing habitat loss between Kleinmond and Mossel Bay. Much of the range, especially on the Agulhas Plain and around Albertinia is invaded by alien species. Agriculture has caused extensive habitat loss between the Gourits River and Mossel Bay.
Population

There is not much known about the population size of this taxon. It occurs between 15 and 20 locations in fragmented locations. In 2015, only 10 plants were observed in one of the locations, and in 2020, only one plant was seen.
