This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 8345 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 176 km². It is listed as Least Concern as there are more than 16 extant subpopulations and many occur in habitats that can not be transformed for agriculture.

Range
This species is endemic to South Africa, and is found in the Western Cape Province from the Gifberg and Heerenlogement Mountain in the north to Elandskloof and Piekenierskloof in the south.

Description
It occurs in dry fynbos and succulent karoo, occurring on mountain slopes up to 500 m elevation and flats in stony, sandstone-derived soils, often in rock crevices.
Threats
This species has lost 31% of its habitat (calculated using landcover data in GIS) from agriculture and livestock, however, there are still many extant subpopulations and many occur in habitats that are not possible to plough.
Population

There is not much information available on the population of this species. It is known from at least 16 subpopulations.
