Justification
This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 57 496 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 280 km². It is widespread with more than 40 subpopulations recorded. The population is declining as a result of habitat loss to agriculture especially in the Overberg region, and urban development around Port Elizabeth, however it has not declined to the level where it meets any of the thresholds for listing as threatened. It is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Range
This species is endemic to South Africa, and is widespread from Caledon in the Western Cape to Alexandria in the Eastern Cape.

It occurs on clay and loamy slopes in grassland or renosterveld.
Threats
This species has lost 33% of its habitat (calculated using landcover data in GIS) due to agriculture and infrastructure development. Its habitat continues to be degraded in parts of its range due to the spread of invasive alien species.
Population

It has more than 40 subpopulations recorded, the population is declining due to ongoing habitat loss and degradation.
