Justification
This species is rare and localized, but probably overlooked. It is a summer-flowering geophyte, and is currently known from a single mountain peak where it is not threatened. It has an extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) of 4 km², and it is therefore listed under the IUCN 3.1. criteria as Least Concern but is nationally recognised as Critically Rare.

A species endemic to South Africa, known from just one subpopulation on the Leeuriviersberg (Grootberg) west of Swellendam, in the Western Cape province.

Description
It occurs high in the Langeberg at around 1 550 m elevation in unburnt veld, on damp, mossy ledges on steep, upper south-facing slopes.
Threats
This species has no threats, and is therefore not in danger of extinction.
Population

It is a rare and localized species, currently known from less than 50 plants (N.A. Helme, pers. comm. 2011). There may however be other subpopulations in inaccessible sites elsewhere on the Leeurivierberg. The population has a stable trend.
