Justification
This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 2315 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 44 km². It is known from nine locations that continue to decline due to ongoing habitat loss to rooibos tea cultivation. It is therefore listed as Vulnerable under criterion B.

Range
An endemic to South Africa, that is found in the Bokkeveld mountains in the Northern Cape province, and the Gifberg and northern Olifants River mountains in Western Cape province.

Description
It occurs in stony sandstone ground, usually in seasonally moist sites, on dry montane fynbos or mountain renosterveld.
Threats
This species has lost 20% of its habitat (calculated using landcover data in GIS). It is threatened by ongoing habitat loss to expanding rooibos tea cultivation in the Nieuwoudtville and Trawal areas.
Population

Subpopulations tend to be small and localized, although one collection from a protected area indicates that plants in undisturbed situations can be locally abundant. The population suspected to declining due to habitat loss.
