This highly range-restricted northern Cederberg endemic has an extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) of 8 km². With no known threats, it qualifies under the IUCN category of Least Concern, but it is nationally listed as Rare.

It occurs on east- and south-facing slopes on shale bands, especially after fires.
Threats
As of the latest assessment, there are no known threats to this species.
Population

This species is locally common in its habitat and is known from two subpopulations. An observation on iNaturalist in 2019 noted that one subpopulation had 200 plants in 0.1 hectares. However, there is still a need for a thorough survey of the entire population to accurately estimate the overall number of mature individuals.
