Justification
This is a rare habitat specialist with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 349 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 24 km². It is known from only three subpopulations, but it is not threatened. It is therefore listed under the IUCN 3.1 criteria as Least Concern and is nationally recognised as Rare.

This species is endemic to the Western Cape Province of South Africa, and is found on the Gifberg, Matsikamma and Pakhuis mountains.

Description
It occurs on moist, sandstone pavements in shallow sandy ground, especially common after fire.
