Justification
This species is widespread, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 81 713 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 96 km². It is a common species, known from at least 20 subpopulations. It is not threatened, and is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Range
A widespread and endemic species to the southern parts of South Africa. It is found from Montagu and Touws River in Western Cape province to Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape province.

Description
It grows in clay or loamy sand in fynbos or on forest edges.
Threats
This species has lost less than 6% of its habitat to crop cultivation (calculated using landcover data in GIS). It mostly occurs in arid regions where habitat transformation rates are very low.

The population has a stable trend, and is known from at least 20 subpopulations.
