Justification
This species is widespread and common in its habitat, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 12 584 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 196 km². It is known from more than 50 subpopulations and is not in danger of extinction. It is therefore listed as Least Concern.

An endemic to the Western Cape province, South Africa, where it is found from Houw Hoek near Grabouw to Napier and Baardscheerdersbos near Elim.

Description
It occurs mainly in montane areas on stony sandstone slopes in fynbos.
Threats
While it has lost 28% of its habitat to crop cultivation in the past there are still many subpopulations that occur in areas with no threats,.
Population

This species is abundant after fire, it is known from more than 50 subpopulations. While some past decline has taken place due to loss of habitat for crop cultivation, this species is still found in many protected areas and the current population trend is stable.
