Justification
This subspecies has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 1646 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 76 km². It is known from ten remaining locations, which continue to decline due to ongoing habitat loss to urban and agricultural expansion. It is therefore listed as Vulnerable under criterion B.

It is endemic to the Western Cape province of South Africa, and occurs in the Olifants River Valley and extending from the central part of the valley near Citrusdal to some 10-12 km south of Clanwilliam.

Description
It occurs at fairly low elevations along the valley bottom in exposures of Bokkeveld shales in the area of predominantly Cape Sandstone-derived soils.
Threats
This subspecies' lowland habitat is already 50% transformed (calculated using landcover data in GIS), predominantly for citrus cultivation. In addition, urban expansion of Clanwilliam and Citrusdal is ongoing.
Population

It is a highly-localized species. With most of its habitat transformed, only a few subpopulations survive on remnants of natural veld. The population has a decreasing trend across its ten known locations.
